About John Renbourn with Jacqui McShee: John Renbourn is one of the most important figures in the evolution of modern fingerstyle guitar. His early blues work helped launch the 60's blues revival, and his explorations of celtic, rock and jazz music and his work as a founder of the influential group Pentangle inspired a whole generation of new guitar players. (He will be joined by original Pentangle vocalist Jacqui McShee.) His solo recordings, collaborations with Stefan Grossman, Pierre Bensusan and Robin Williamson, plus his work with the John Renbourn Group have taken him all over the world, and into explorations of new ways to incorporate music from all times and cultures into the repertoire of the steel-string guitar. His warm vocals and witty asides make him a much-beloved performer, and one of the most illustrious guitarists the SGS has had the honor of presenting. Get your tickets early for this one.
